Cortana can Now Search and Open Files for You on Windows 10 PCs

Although we know that Cortana might no longer be part of Windows 10 PCs, this isn’t its end. Microsoft started working on its new features for its voice assistant in Windows 10 PCs. 

In their official blog post, they have listed you can use Cortana on your PCs to translate your thoughts into immediate actions. This can be clearly understood as you can now open and search files and eventually save your time that’s spent on navigating this apps/folder. 

Microsoft fills up with some examples of the three official blog post showing Cortana’s new file skill.

If you want to check this out, here’s how you can do this- 

File name or part of it (Example: “Hey Cortana, opening digital report”)

File with author names (Example: “Hey Cortana, open the digital report from Sammy”)

Find your recent document or editing one (Example: “Hey Cortana, find recent files”)

Finding a particular type document (Example: “Hey Cortana, find recent docs”)

Although, this feature could be useful for everyone, but surely a windfall for Enterprise users. Microsoft even claims that you can search files saved on OneDrive and SharePoint or can even open it. But this you can only do once you use your corporate credentials as to log in your Windows 10 PC.

However, the limitation comes up with language. Because only the English-speaking users in the US can access Cortana’s file search feature. 

Microsoft working to add support for more languages. Because a single langue isn’t sufficient if you are planning to capture worldwide. Thus, we can see this ok the next major Windows 10 update. 

We can see some more additional feature along with this, like the ‘Advanced View’ checkbox in the ‘Optimize Drive’ and the split touch keyboard. You can have a depth analysis in their official blog-post
